Theatreland relocates to St Helens

The producers of stage show spectacular Theatreland regretfully announce this evening that it has become necessary for their production, due to be staged at the DriveINSIDE Theatre at the Trafford Centre this Saturday 22nd May, to be cancelled.   However, they have arranged for Theatreland to be presented in the socially-distanced, Covid-safe environment of St Helens Theatre Royal at 2pm on Saturday, May 22nd.   Producer of the show, Adam Curtis, says that his company has been left with no alternative but to withdraw Theatreland from the planned drive-in theatre at the Trafford Centre. “We have been liaising with the venue organizers, Beyond Theatre Limited, this week,” says Adam.   “Our concerns regarding delivery of the venue infrastructure by them within a timescale capabl...

Last night it was nice to have some sort of normality in the theatre world. I got to review my first show in 2020 inside an actual theatre. It was nice to be back. The things that would normally annoy you in the theatre, such as people getting past you in the aisle or the rustling of crisp packets was strangely welcomed as it was just nice to have that experience again. However, I digress the reason why I was there was to review 2020 pantomime Beauty and the Beast at the St Helens Theatre Royal. St Helens Theatre Royal To Change Christmas Pantomime Title Due To Pandemic But A Show Will Go On!

Regal Entertainments announced today that their 2020 Christmas Pantomime at St Helens Theatre Royal has been changed, but a show will go ahead. The curtain was due to go up on Cinderella from Saturday 5th December ’20 – Sunday 3rd January ’21 and had previously announced Linda Robson in the lead role.  However due to the government restrictions now enforced on theatres, it makes the current title not financially viable to continue with, Cinderella is one of the biggest productions in pantomime and carries many additional costs.
