Theatreland relocates to St Helens

The producers of stage show spectacular Theatreland regretfully announce this evening that it has become necessary for their production, due to be staged at the DriveINSIDE Theatre at the Trafford Centre this Saturday 22nd May, to be cancelled.

However, they have arranged for Theatreland to be presented in the socially-distanced, Covid-safe environment of St Helens Theatre Royal at 2pm on Saturday, May 22nd.

Producer of the show, Adam Curtis, says that his company has been left with no alternative but to withdraw Theatreland from the planned drive-in theatre at the Trafford Centre. “We have been liaising with the venue organizers, Beyond Theatre Limited, this week,” says Adam.

“Our concerns regarding delivery of the venue infrastructure by them within a timescale capable of satisfying the requirements of the production mean that we have no other choice but to withdraw the performance. To continue would have jeopardized the quality of the show we would have been able to present.

“This has been through no fault of our own.”

Postponement was not an option, says Adam. “The cast and technical team assembled for this one-off production would be unable to fulfil a postponed performance because of their work schedules,” he says.

Adam, who heads the show’s producers Curtis Productions with his partner Sharlie,  says they are thrilled that St Helens Theatre Royal has been able to make its facilities available within less than a day’s notice to enable the production be presented there on May 22nd.

“We would like to thank theatre manager Chantelle Nolan for coming to our rescue at the 11th hour,” says Adam.

“We investigated the possibility of presenting the show at another Manchester venue, but, at such late notice, this was not possible. We were relieved to be able to locate a venue within a 30-minute drive from the Trafford Centre that was available.

Theatreland takes fans of musical theatre on a tour of the biggest hits from the West End and Broadway. Showstoppers from Wicked, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, We Will Rock You, Dirty Dancing, The Jersey Boys, Six, Grease, Mary Poppins, The Dream Girls and Dear Evan Hansen feature.

Tickets for the St Helens Theatre Royal performance will be available priced £15 plus booking fee from www.sthelenstheatreroyal.com 01744 756000

“We would advise ticket purchasers to obtain a refund from their point of purchase,” says Adam.

“They will be able to book their seats for the St Helens Theatre Royal performance, safe in the knowledge that the event will take place as planned in the well-appointed surroundings of St Helens Theatre Royal.

“Unfortunately, as the show producers and not the DriveINSIDE event organizers, we have no access to the DriveINSIDE Theatre box office.”
