A clever carousel of laugh out loud comedy, and one of the fringe’s stand out shows which will leave you with a belly full of laughs and a big bite of the funnies.
White Room Theatre is taking its 19th run at the Fringe with The Big Bite-Size Breakfast Show. Serving up three all-new, rotating menus of perfectly portioned 10 – 15-minute mini plays providing comedy drama, and delightfully clever twists and turns.
With complimentary strawberries, tea or coffee, and a delicious fresh croissant we take our seats ready for today’s Menu 2, if the other menus are anything like today’s serving you are in for a real treat.
A strong ensemble of 5 versatile actors multi role, not only serving your morning refreshments but also taking on the wide variety of colourful and quirky characters we’re introduced to in each of the 5 plays.
Our first serving starts as a potentially pleasant Ferris wheel ride which humorously turns into a couples counselling session when a moment of romance becomes a full-on domestic row in The Third Wheel by Amelia Stephenson.
Next up is Food Bank by Simon Nye which provides a heartwarming twist when a seemingly annoying volunteer has other intensions.
Proof by Matthew Brown provides a hilarious and farcical take on the mandatory Amazon proof of delivery photo snap.
A hen party with a difference makes up Bottomless by Thomas Willshire and finally Whatever, the Weather by Tom Hartwell where we’re taken into a US news studio which is sponsored by the Annual Diesel Chainsaw Festival, which will go ahead despite adverse weather warnings.
Each of the plays use simple props and set pieces which are easily set up and striked down to enable a nice flow between each play. This diverse selection of short plays satisfied its audience with audible laughs throughout.
