The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – Winter Gardens, Blackpool

The show is based on the classic 1950s novel by C.S. Lewis telling the tale of four siblings evacuated during the war who go on an adventure through the wardrobe and discover the magical land of Narnia. All the classic characters are there but this is a visual masterpiece, a cleverly put together evening of escapism captivating the elements of magic, imagination, nostalgia and a very talented team of creatives and performers. I am not familiar with this show, however I have seen the Narnia movies and so I knew somewhat what to expect. What’s Love Got To Do With It? – Blackpool Winter Gardens

The theatre was packed to capacity; ages ranged from 20+ years upwards although I did see some mums with young children aged about 8 and 10 years old. All eyes were on the stage in anticipation of the show, ‘What's Love Got to Do With It’, a joyous musical show celebrating the music of the incredible Tina Turner. The curtain rose and Elesha Paul Moses bounded onto the stage resplendent in an over-the-top blonde wig and dazzling sequinned outfit.  Elesha has previously appeared on X Factor and The Voice; I had not seen her on either before and was immediately impressed.  She has perfected iconic Turner’s accent and gestures along with mastering her voice’s timbre and excellence. Winter Gardens Blackpool to reopen from Monday!

Plans have been revealed for the Winter Gardens Blackpool to reopen from Monday 17th May 2021. The Box Office and Mazzei Cafe will reopen along with The Old Victoria Bar featuring live entertainment daily. Live socially distanced events will return from 30th May including comedy, live music, family shows and much more. Venue tours will return from Tuesday 01st June 2021. Unable to open since the November lockdown, the venue has developed a new socially distanced spring programme featuring a wide range of events including family favourites the Twirlywoo’s and Alice in Wonderland.
