The Scouse Red Riding Hood – Liverpool’s Royal Court

The Scouse Red Riding Hood, written by Kevin Fearon and directed by Mark Chatterton, with musical direction from Howard Gray, the creative team that engineered successful previous Royal Court Christmas shows, such as The Scouse Cinderella, The Scouse Snow White and The Scouse Jack & The Beanstalk is the theatre’s re-telling of children’s fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood with a twist. This adult panto contains an abundance of Liverpool-style innuendo and near-the-knuckle jokes plus a lot of swearing, so not suitable for youngsters. The storyline is funnily sharp-witted and works perfectly providing laughs galore including lots of home-grown Liverpool colloquialisms, Red-versus-Blue footie jokes and the cast naming local Merseyside landmarks. Lantern Writers: Boss New Plays – Royal Court Studio, Liverpool

The Lantern Writers originally formed in 2011 is one of Liverpool’s foremost creative playwriting groups. The group was established to showcase the writing talents of local creatives and to give the important opportunity for their individual works to come alive on the stage. Boss New Plays is an annual festival of short plays written by members of the Lantern Writers and its always exciting to welcome new works to the stage. YNWA – Let’s Talk About Six…Baby – Royal Court Liverpool

Now before I start this review, I must admit was a little nervous about reviewing at The Royal Court Liverpool’s show ‘Let’s Talk About Six….Baby’ by Nicky Allt. Mainly because I’m clueless about football. Instead of shouting go the night reds and boo the blues I normally shout go everybody. However, knowing I’ve never seen a bad show at the royal court I was excited to expand my knowledge and last night was no exception from the moment the lights went down, and Led Zeppelin came out the speakers.
