Peter Pan – Rose Theatre

Second star to the right, and straight on till morning. The classic tale, and a firm family favourite, is brought to life once again this Christmas in a new production at the Rose Theatre in Kingston. Following the mischievous boy Peter Pan who refuses to grow up, and happens to fly, the story begins when Peter crash lands into the bedroom of a strong-minded young girl and her brothers, who desperately seek adventure. With the help of a little fairy dust, and countless happy thoughts, they are whisked away into the land of never growing up, Neverland, where they encounter pirates, mermaids and much more. Bursting with magic from the get-go with the enchanting music and lighting, we are introduced to the story in the classic way in the Darling’s room, narrated by a Gran telling the st...

Peter Pan – St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden

The magic of fairy dust and imagination, the power of flying, and the enchantment of caring. Crocodiles and pirates, mermaids and the Lost Boys. What else could anyone possible want? Slapstick Picnic is presenting J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, a new version of the famous children's story, with a cast of three, in an outdoor stage version. Directed by Nel Crouch, designed by Ella Barraclough, and with movement direction by Jennifer Fletcher, the play is set in a simple stage, designed by Studio Polpo, with a few contraptions that will surprise the audience. However, the piece relies heavily on the acting prowess of the three performers: Charlotte Driessler, as Mr Darling, John, Tinker Bell, Smee, and Tootles; Lucy Green as Wendy, Nana, Hook, and Slightly; and William Ross-Fawcett as Mrs. Darl...

The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan – The Regent Theatre

Pantomime has been a British tradition for about 200 years and in many ways, despite some avid theatre goers 'rolling their eyes' at such a genre, ‘panto’ remains incredibly popular. This Christmas, the Regent Theatre welcomes the magical ‘Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan’ to a very excited Stoke- on -Trent audience. Directed by cast members Jonathan Wilkes and Kai Owen and produced by ‘Crossroads Pantomimes’, ‘The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan’ is essentially a story of enabling Peter Pan to fly again and involves another trip to the magical ‘Neverland’. Stoke-on-Trent's very own Jonathan Wilkes plays the part of ‘Smee’. This man sure loves a Panto and its clear he loves his hometown of Stoke just as much. Having performed panto for over a decade Wilkes clearly has it running t...

Peter Pan – St Helens Theatre Royal

It was a great pleasure to see Peter Pan the pantomime in St Helens last night, by Regal Entertainments. The audience was full of families ready to boo and hiss whilst shouting he’s behind you. It’s worth noting if you see the show double check the start times as they are afternoon and teatime showings. Peter Pan (Harrison Vaughan) lives in Never-land. In Never-land it is a place full of lost boys. Where you can’t grow old. They all fight together against Captain Hook (Scott Gallagher) and his pirates. Peter had won the first fight against Hook by taking of one of his hands which was replaced by (you guessed it) a hook. However, Hook wasn’t going to lose the next time and plans to find his hideaway and poison Peter Pan whilst his cronies kidnapped the lost boys along with Wendy (Lauren ...

Peter Pan – Octagon Theatre

Peter Pan is a classic – whether you know it as the original children’s book by J.M Barrie, the Disney animation, or any of the other cinematic adaptations that have come since. The problem with a popular story that has been told and retold again is that oftentimes, there is no originality left – you’re so familiar with the story, that there’s nothing new or innovative. However, the audience of The Bolton Octagon’s production of Peter Pan have no such worries – this show has the reassuringly familiar storylines and much-loved characters; yet has been staged so dynamically (and features new musical numbers) that it almost feels like watching it for the very first time. Adapted for stage in 2018 by Sarah Punchon, this production has been brought to life in Bolton by Artistic Director L...

Peter Pan – Barn Theatre

With this one-man adaptation of the classic family tale, the Barn Theatre has another success on their hands. Equally as thrilling as it is heart-warming, this version transports the audience from normality to Neverland. All with the help of that famous, ever-youthful boy. There have been countless retellings of J.M.Barrie’s creation and everyone has their favourites. From the big screen (“Hook” coming to mind, whereas I wish I could erase “Pan” from it) to stage musicals such as “Finding Neverland”, it is obvious that the appeal for the pixie-dust sprinkled adventure has not faltered. Playing on the universal appeal for the story, the Barn team have created a play with family at its forefront. Waylon Jacobs (Hamilton) plays a travelling father who is coaxed into a bedtime story from...
