Scouse Dick Whittington – Liverpool’s Royal Court

Let’s get ready to rumble, it’s the start of the festive season at The Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool with this year’s pantomime Scouse Dick Whittington. Written by Kevin Fearon and Directed by Mark Chatterton. In the City of Liverpool, it has all gone array, there are no cats within the city as King Rat (Andrew Schofield) has had them killed. The Scouse Sleeping Beauty – Liverpool’s Royal Court

Coming to the Royal Court Liverpool is always a delight and tonight I had the privilege of seeing ‘The Scouse Sleeping Beauty’ in all its glory. Liverpool’s Royal Court host their annual pantomime which emphasises ‘don’t bring the kids!’ as it loosely uses a panto storyline to create their usual crazy, amusing and fun night of adult entertainment. As I left the theatre tonight, there was no denying the extraordinary atmosphere of Christmas merriment and good humour and it was clear that this theatre company really know how to throw a party! We first meet Maleffluent (Lindzi Germain) and her trusty sidekick Crow (Andrew Schofield) who nastily cast a spell on baby Ora (Jamie Clarke). Ora’s father is the King of Poundland (Liam Tobin) and he promises to protect young Ora from any ‘pricks’...

Ellen & Rigby is a great new comedy about two lonely people brought together in an unlikely way. Starring Royal Court favourites Lindzi Germain and Andrew Schofield and directed by Stephen Fletcher, the show begins when the odd couple meet at a vaccination centre. Lucky in life, unlucky in love, Ellen has been looking for a man. Now, thanks to the organisational power of the NHS, Joe Rigby has been dropped in her lap! A rock star who nearly made it in 1985, Joe has been living alone for so long that he didn’t realise that he was unhappy so it’s a good job Ellen arrived to let him know. He needs taking in hand (not like that, you dirty ti...
