Building on the success of their previous tours through a collaborative research and development process across the UK, "Tender" is a timely, robust, and engaging production. With the new Illegal Migration Act and Rwanda Bill, this piece fills an urgent gap that mass media seems unwilling to report on factually. The play features a diverse cast from Albania, Chad, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Iraq. Each actor brings unique flavours and perspectives, adding authenticity and depth to the production. Supported by Arts Council, England and Derby Theatre, Tender emerged as the new production for Phosphoros Theatre, a London based company running theatre projects for refugees aged 16-25. Featuring young performers from Iraq, Eritrea, Chad, Albania and Ethiopia the work began development in 2021 and is playing at Home, Manchester this week. Given the changes to the Illegal Migration Act and the very recent passing of the disturbing Rwanda Bill it is a timely opportunity to highlight the stories of the young refugees that find themselves between a rock and a hard place with no safety net, no right to work and understandable deep concerns about how they build a future for themselves. Pilot Theatre announce a national tour of The Bone Sparrow

Pilot Theatre have adapted Zana Fraillon’s The Bone Sparrow about a Rohingya refugee boy who has spent his entire life living in a detention centre in Australia. The Bone Sparrow has been adapted by Shakthi Shakthidharan, who is an Australian writer, producer, composer and director for screen and stage of Sri Lankan heritage and Tamil ancestry. It’s directed by Pilot Theatre’s Artistic Director Esther Richardson. It’s story of Subhi, a refugee who was born in an Australian detention centre to a mother who had fled violence in her Burmese homeland. Derby Theatre is back with Derby Rises

Derby Theatre and partners in Derby CAN (Creative Arts Network) are back with a programme of newly commissioned artistic work, community-based workshops culminating in evening of celebration at the theatre on Sunday 27 September. Derby Rises is a citywide version of The Bakery of Slow Ideas, which is a community art practice created by Leo Kay from London-based Unfinished Business.
