Bradford panto legend Billy Pearce returns to the Alhambra Theatre this festive season

Pantomime will be making a magical return to the Alhambra Theatre this festive season as Bradford panto legend Billy Pearce returns for his 24th season, following a triumphant run as Buttons in last year’s pantomime Cinderella. Tickets go on general sale on Monday 25th March for Pinocchio which runs from Saturday 7th December 2024 to Sunday 19th January 2025. Billy Pearce first topped the bill of the Alhambra Theatre’s annual festive production in 1993, winning acclaim from critics and audience members alike, and has since solidified his reputation as the King of Yorkshire comedy. Taking your seat in this historic theatre you can’t help reflecting that for the local mill workers who made this city rich a festive trip to the panto must have been a real treat, and this old school spectacular with a modern sensibility proved to be just that. Unlike other pantos that often push the boundaries of good taste this is very much a family show, so grannies and the little kids being carried into the venue can all share some good clean fun. Sleeping Beauty Gets Enforced Lie-In in Manchester

Following the announcement that Manchester is in Tier 3 from Wednesday 2nd December, when the national lockdown was lifted, Manchester Opera House and Qdos Entertainment have announced that the opening of Sleeping Beauty will be delayed and will now begin on Thursday 24th December 2020 and run until Sunday 10th January 2021. Sheena Wrigley, Theatre Director of Manchester Palace & Opera House said: “Given the downward trend of the virus in the City, and the community’s campaign for the reduction of the Tier level at the next review, we continue to be hopeful that we can stage the show this Christmas, opening a little later than planned on 24th December.
