Drag Queens Vs Zombies – Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose

A dragtastic, B – movie, comedy, schlock horror romp with a twist of cabaret! Kate Butch and Crudi Dench skilfully and hilariously take the audience on a ridiculous adventure through a queer pop culture, so- bad- it’s- good, zombie extravaganza. With quick fire jokes right out of the gate and some impressive vocal stylings this show has it all – stand up, audience participation, prop comedy, lip sinking, singing and more.  Drag Queens vs Zombies embraces traditional “Carry On “style British comedy and plenty of nostalgia but adds a sharp modern update and a biting edge. Whether you’re a seasoned drag fan or if this is your first foray into the drag scene, you will find yourself in safe hands as these queens expertly guide you through this hysterical journey.  As a B- movie cult horror nerd I adored all the nods to the ridiculous tropes of the genre. I enjoyed the use of narration and fun horror sound bites to push the plot forward.

The chemistry between these two stars is plain to see and each of their particular brands of comedy complement each other beautifully. The way the hosts made characters out of the audience and even used them to push the story forward was a stroke of genius with side splitting results. Both queens have great comedic timing and really brought the writing to life. The quick wit, sarcasm and improvisation skills of these drag artists is second to none and, really, have you even lived if you’ve never seen a drag queen scrape up 4 vegan scotch eggs up off the floor in a sweaty fringe venue and cram them into their mouth?  This show embraces the camp, silly and fun side of life and these queens know exactly how to command an audience. Top notch camp, queer, horror fun at its finest!

Playing until 28th August, full details and tickets can be found HERE.
