Yes, Sir, you can boo me – oh no, you can’t and all that jazz … Cinderella at the Festival Theatre is a feast for the eyes and a laugh-a-minute musical extravaganza.
Featuring wicked stepmother, Grant Stott, endearing Fairy May (Allan Stewart), Jordan Young as a brilliant Buttons, Clare Gray and Gail Watson as Vindicta and Manipulata Fortuna, Amber Sylvia Edwards as Cinderella, Will Callan and his beautiful voice as Prince Charming and Iain Stuart Robertson as Baron Hardup, this line-up is a sure-fire hit. What a team! They delivered a fantastic evening’s distraction for the people of Edinburgh and beyond.
The audience participation was wonderfully entertaining in the safe hands of Allan Stewart and the surprise elements were magical. The writing was a collaborative affair. It was funny and silly and joyous, just as you’d expect from these seasoned panto performers. They’re having fun and so are we as we marvel at incredible costumes by Head of Wardrobe, Maggie Kennedy. The special effects are indeed special while Andy Pickering directs the hard working musicians to perfection. The ensemble dancers and singers filled the stage with a lively joie de vivre, supporting the main actors with skill and verve.
The lighting is dazzling and magical thanks to Jack Ryan. The entire auditorium sparkles with enchanting light projections as you enter. Every ingredient has been carefully considered in this festive recipe. As you would expect, the audience loved every minute and played their part with gusto. It was a treat to review.
Tickets are few and far between for this sell-out extravaganza. Get booking now!
