Billed as the “Glastonbury of Fireworks’, Alexandra Palace’s Festival of Fireworks was back with a BANG this year, to entertain a crowd of thousands, and celebrate Bonfire Night in true London style.
In every way captivating, what is now a consistent part of the London Autumn events calendar did not disappoint this year. Set against unrivalled panoramic views over London, this is the hottest ticket in London on Bonfire night, and not just because of the size and ferocity of the bonfire itself!
Before the mega fireworks display, general ticket holders were treated to a brilliant line up of live music and world food stalls of every possible description in the ‘StrEATlife village’, which was set up well with plenty of cover from the miserable rainy weather. For those who had purchased advanced tickets, there was also access to cinema screenings in the Victorian theatre, the opportunity to twirl on the ice at the famous ice rink, or access to the UK’s largest German bier festival.
From a safety and security perspective, everything seemed well coordinated, with marshals clearly visible and knowledgeable to what was happening and when. There were dedicated safety zones to ensure that visitor safety was of paramount importance, and there was also a visible Police presence throughout the park area, with security maintained at gates. Most important, there were enough portable facilities at various points throughout the park and lit up areas for parents to feed children away from the crowds.
However, the real event of the night was of course the beautiful lighting up the London skyline with a truly legendary fireworks and laser display, set to a music soundtrack that was simply incredible! The display was followed by a late-finish party in the StrEATlife village, with music by the wonderful Gok Wan, which made this an unforgettable spectacle for the entire family. Highly recommended next year but be sure to get your tickets well in advance though, as this was a sold-out event!!
