44 Sex Acts in One Week – Pleasance Dome

Hilariously bonkers and face aching funny. A squelchy take on the classic radio play. There’s no room for blushes in this deliciously naughty apocalyptic rom-com.

Smutty sex guru Malaine Guttierez suggests that she may be in the possession of some seriously strong pelvic floor muscles by recommending that we ‘grab life by the clunge’, and have as much sex as we possibly can, all we need to do is buy her new book, ‘The 44 Sex Acts that will change your life!’. We’re sold!

Guttierez’s hardcopy ends up on the desk of budding journalist Celina, working at the magazine ‘She Squad, and fed up of writing mindless clickbait articles (including a hologram baby announcing its own death).  Struggling to pay her rent, and with her precious ‘serious’ writing held to ransom by her domineering boss, she takes on the offer of a commission to write a 5000-word review of ’44 Sex Acts’, the caveat is that the deadline is in a week. Desperate, Celina embroils office foe Alab to help her recreate each act. Let the frivolities commence.

The end result is a fast paced, over-the-top, romp with larger-than-life characters who make this production one to watch. The crazy fast paced sex-based shenanigans are too silly not to laugh.  Fringe First winner David Finnigen’s razor sharp writing is full of wit, humour, and fun, which keeps up the pace with the physical comedy, topped with an array of genius ways of making sound effects, and performing on stage sex. No intimacy coordinator in sight here, as a banana and watermelon are put through their paces. A perfectly positioned microphone delightfully capturing each slop and splosh.

Amongst all this carnal madness is a nod to climate change, and how a disposed used condom could potentially cause repercussions which could change the world over centuries. An evolutional disaster!

Clubhouse Productions provide the perfect opportunity to take in a titillating show which doesn’t take itself too seriously. Guaranteed pure unadulterated, dirty fun.

Showing at 4.40pm until the 25th August 2024.
