The Lawrence Batley Theatre announces Summer season

The Lawrence Batley Theatre has announced that live entertainment will return to the venue from Monday 7th June with a season of socially distanced and outdoor performances.

The West-Yorkshire theatre, which is currently operating a beer garden with live outdoor music in its Courtyard space, will open its summer season with the Donmar Warehouse installation, Blindness as part of its seven venue UK tour.

Other season highlights include; performances by Huddersfield based theatre company Dick & Lottie with an Alan Ayckbourn double bill titled Farcicals, Charles Court Opera present the complete works of Gilbert & Sullivan in 75 minutes, multi-award winning theatre company Mikron showcase two brand-new shows, A Dog’s Tale and Atalanta Forever, ThickSkin take to the streets of Huddersfield with Walk this Play, an original interactive Lawrence Batley Theatre commission designed for listeners as they walk, and cycling theatre company The HandleBards perform their all-female version of Macbeth.

Henry Filloux-Bennett, CEO & Artistic Director of the Lawrence Batley Theatre said about the reopening; “After more than a year of rescheduling already rescheduled productions, we are thrilled to be able to welcome audiences back to the theatre this summer to enjoy live entertainment. We’ve programmed amazing home-grown theatre, great music, and we’ve commissioned brand-new work to celebrate our community and theatre. We have gone above and beyond to make sure we can offer the safest possible experience to our audiences, artists and the amazing team who work at the theatre, and we can’t wait to welcome you back over the next few months.”

The Lawrence Batley Theatre first reopened its doors on the 16th April for the theatre’s outdoor beer garden offer, Summer in the Courtyard and today’s announcement sees the regional theatre make its next tentative steps towards reopening for live entertainment in line with the Government roadmap.

Tickets for the summer season are now on sale. More information and tickets can be found at www.thelbt.org
