Festive Cheer with Sleeping Beauty at The Dukes

Families can enjoy some festive cheer at The Dukes this Christmas as the Lancaster venue have announced a brand new, socially distanced production of Sleeping Beauty.

Performed in the Round from December 11th – 31st, this inventive and exciting new take on the classic tale is co-written and co-directed by Sarah Punshon and Daniel Bye.

Sleeping Beauty also reunites the creative talents of the teams behind The Dukes’ recent successful Christmas productions of Aladdin, Peter Pan and last year’s Cinderella.

Audiences are invited to join two fairy godmothers as they tell the tale of Rose, a bold and daring young girl whose journey into the unknown depths of the forest puts her face-to-face with hidden castles, magic spells and a wicked, wicked fairy. Will Rose be able to break the curse and find her way home again?

Full of music, storytelling, joy and love, the show promises to be an enchanting theatrical and festive treat to warm hearts this winter.

The Dukes’ Director, Karen O’Neill said: “The Dukes is excited to be presenting a new production of Sleeping Beauty this Christmas – a show that is both original and made in Lancaster. We have worked hard to create a socially distanced performance that captures all the magic of the festive season. It is important for us to continue to provide great, dynamic theatre for our communities safely. We once again look forward to welcoming families from across the district this Christmas.”

Social distanced seating plans are in place for the performances of Sleeping Beauty, with different seating pods available for people to book within their household, in line with local and government guidelines.

Other safety measures in the venue include sanitiser stations to be used on entry and around the building and compulsory face masks. Advanced booking is required, while bookers can also pre-order refreshments when purchasing their ticket. The Dukes encourage people to visit their website to find out more about their precautions and measures.

Pod prices range from a pod for two at £32 to a pod for six priced at £96. They are on sale now through www.dukeslancaster.org or by phoning The Dukes Box Office on 01524 598 500.
