Oliver – Northwich Memorial Court

This evening I had the pleasure of being transported back to 1830’s London for Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre Company’s and Mid Cheshire Youth Theatre’s production of ‘Oliver’. Following a brief hiatus from producing full-scale musical productions, I was very excited to see MCMTC tackle such an iconic classic on its welcome return to the Northwich Memorial Court. The pre-show air of keen anticipation in the auditorium was tangible. Despite the challenges of such a complex and epic show to a family audience, the stellar production team, comprising of Lou Steggals (director) Jenna Finnigan (youth director & choreographer) and Marilyn Blank (musical director) did not disappoint. Big Fish – Memorial Court, Northwich

The job of reviewing theatre takes you to some interesting places, last night I was in the cavernous Lowry in Salford Quays with a 1,700 audience, this evening finds me in the more prosaic surroundings of a leisure centre in deepest Cheshire for the opening night of 'Big Fish'. However, amongst the teenage judo classes and aqua aerobics, Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre Company (MCMTC) have mounted an ambitious and ultimately successful production of this little performed gem. American Idiot – The Plaza, Northwich

Based on rock band Green Days album of the same name, and with original lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong, ‘American Idiot’, the musical, is performed by the Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre Company (MCMTC) this week. Having first performed in 2009, winning several awards including a Grammy for best musical show album, MCMTC now grace the stage at Northwich Plaza with their version directed by Louise Colohan. Sunshine on Leith – Northwich Memorial Court

After 2 years away from the stage due to Covid restrictions, Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre Company (MCMTC) invite audiences to Northwich Memorial Court for their much-awaited return, with the relatively new musical, ‘Sunshine on Leith’. Having first toured in Scotland in 2007 and then adapted into a feature film in 2013, ‘Sunshine on Leith’ is the story of Ally and Davy, two soldiers, and their eager return to civilian life in their much-loved hometown of Edinburgh following a tour in Afghanistan. Musical Theatre Returns to Cheshire

Mid Cheshire Musical Theatre Company are back! After a 2-year enforced absence from the stage due to Covid restrictions, Sunshine on Leith is set to become one of the first full scale musicals to be produced in Cheshire.
